10 fun Linux commands to try out.

People who are not used to linux find it very rigid and boring. But in reality, it is the most fun kernel ever. In this blog, we are going to talk about 10 fun commands that add a little fun to our lives.

sl

The sl command which stands for steam locomotive gives a moving locomotive engine running across the terminal.

To install, run sudo apt-get install sl

fortune

This command is my favorite command and I always have it installed. It shows the user's fortune for the day. General advice though, don't take it too seriously.

To install, run sudo apt-get install fortune

oneko

Who doesn't love cats? Everyone does, duh! The same was true with the Linux user who made this. The cat command attaches a pet cat to the terminal who follows around the cursor.

To install, run sudo apt-get install oneko

telnet

The telnet command can be used to play the whole Star Wars. Don't believe me? Try it out for yourself.

To install, run sudo apt-get install telnet

After you have installed telnet, run this command telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl

cowsay

This command lets us pass on a message with a cow. This is a must-try!

To install, run sudo apt-get install cowsay

Another fun thing about it is that we can combine fortune and cowsay to make the cow say our fortune for the day.

xcowsay

In case someone is bored with the ASCII cow, we can make a more graphical one with this command.

To install, run sudo apt-get install xcowsay

toilet

Don't worry, this command is not what it looks like! It makes the text we enter with ASCII characters. Remember those '90s new year text messages on our keypad phones? That's what this makes.

To install, run sudo apt-get install toilet

cmatrix

This one has to be the coolest thing we do with the terminal. Just install this and look like a hacker or a computer genius.

To install, run sudo apt-get install cmatrix

aafire

This command sets your terminal on fire. It opens a window with a burning fire of ASCII characters.

To install, run sudo apt-get install aafire

espeak

This command turns text into speech.

To install, run sudo apt-get install

Conslusion

As we can see, Linux is filled with a lot of fun commands that entertain us on a cloudy day. I leave the user with some other fun commands to try for themselves.
