A teacher asked a 10-year-old Aqsa what she wanted to be when she grew up and she replied, 'A Scientist'. 6 years later, another teacher asked and her answer was the same. To be exact, she wanted to be an astrophysicist because of 3 simple reasons :
- The night sky fascinated her
- She really wanted to be as smart as Raj Koothrapali from The Big Bang Theory or Stephen Hawking from The Theory of Everything
- She wanted to make an impact in the world as a girl.
Her plan after class 12th was to enroll in a BSc program from a reputed college in India and then apply for a job in ISRO. But when her IIST entrance exam sucked really badly, she had to make a plan B. In her defense, that exam was extremely difficult.
She had an elder brother who had completed college, was looking for jobs, and had to write the ISRO entrance exam because their mother read in a newspaper that ISRO has openings for engineering graduates. While her brother had no interest in the job, Aqsa found a glimmer of hope in it. And then she decided. Aqsa wanted to enter the rat race of engineering but change her path slightly, in the end, to get a job in ISRO.
She entered a tier-3 college in Bangalore. And we all know what Bangalore is famous for.
As soon as she entered college, a lot of things changed. Suddenly, a lot of people were talking about software development, start-ups, and Elon Musk. Being a significantly impressionable young adult, she had to look into the hype. This was the time when she looked up the best jobs for Engineering students and found results with the highest paying jobs. It was 2019 and the most talked about technology was ML and so she searched for courses related to it. She found an online course offered by Microsoft in Machine Learning. A week of enthusiasm faded away quickly. She was again at crossroads with her career. She had to find something related to Computer Science so that later in life she could get into ISRO.
She had to find a domain that held her interest and paid well. In the search for something creative but difficult at the same time, she found web development and her world changed.
She was always fascinated with the designs of the websites she used every day. She liked the design. She liked creativity. She liked challenging problems. And she found all of that in web development. And that is how her journey started.
Also, if it wasn't pretty obvious, that girl is me.
Hello World of tech creators, I am Aqsa, a front-end developer in her 4th year of college. I am currently applying for internships, which is a job in itself.
I also want to work on my blog going forward because I like writing and want to work on my tech writing skills and document my learnings. I really hope you will accompany me on this journey.
